Amitava Chowdhury is Associate Professor of History, Queen’s University, and Visiting Fellow at the Weatherhead Initiative on Global History, Harvard University. He is Managing Editor of the Canadian Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Studies and a collaborating member of the Indian Ocean World Center, McGill University. A historian and historical archaeologist, Chowdhury is primarily interested in the histories of plantation labour in the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean. His other research interests include diaspora theory and the theory and methodology of Global History.
