The Rare Gift and the Key to Opening the Door of Union is an English translation of the Rātib of ‛Umar bin ‛Abd al-Raḥmān al-‛Aṭṭās, by his descendants Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas. Among the special benefits derived from this great Rātib are the gift of a long life and a good end for whoever regularly reads it morning and evening. Whoever preserves and practices it will be protected from calamity on land and on sea. Its reading is most beneficial for whoever does it in a place alone and with ablution facing the qiblah and supplicating God his need and, God willing, it will be granted him. And it has been confirmed that he who recites it 41 times would realize his need. For one who regularly preserves the reading of this Ratib, God will protect his life and his wealth, and he will be vouchsafed a praiseworthy end in life and victory over his enemies. This Rātib is called by some ‘The Cream of Invocations’, and ‘The Magnet of Mysteries’ for whoever reads it regularly night and day. It is also called ‘The Invulnerable Citadel’, and ‘The Rare Gift’, and ‘The Key to Opening the Door of Union’.
