Micheline Lessard
Micheline Lessard is Assistant Professor of History at the University of Ottawa. Her area of specialisation is Southeast Asia, and her research focuses on Vietnamese history, particularly Vietnamese women’s history. She received a PhD in Southeast Asian history in 1995 at Cornell University and has a BA and an MA from Concordia University. She has published chapters in Essays into Vietnamese Pasts (Cornell University Press, 1995) and Women’s Suffrage in Asia (RoutledgeCurzon, 2004) as well as articles in Vietnamologica and French Colonial History. She is a co-editor (with Tamara Hunt) of Women and the Colonial Gaze (New York University Press, 2002). She is currently working on a manuscript on human trafficking in Vietnam during the French colonial period.
