Shahida Shahimi

Shahida Shahimi earned both her MEcs and PhD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She attained her Bachelor of Syariah (Economics) Hons. from the University of Malaya. Shahida began her career as an academic at the Department of Statistics and Islamic Economics, Faculty of Economics, UKM in June 2001. At UKM level, she was formerly the Head of Postgraduate Program at the Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Currently she is the Editorial Board of Jurnal Ekonomi Malaysia (Malaysian Journal of Economics), FEP. She is also Exco of the International Council of Islamic Finance Educators (ICIFE).

With regard to her expertise in the field of Islamic economics and finance, she was appointed as Associate Research Fellow of the International Research Centre of Islamic Economics and Finance (IRCIEF), International Islamic University College Selangor (KUIS), Malaysia. Shahida was an academic research fellow at Institute of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies (IMEIS), Durham University in 2008 and a visiting associate professor at Center for Islamic Area Studies (KIAS), Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies (ASAFAS), Kyoto University, Japan in 2012. She is also a member of the Malaysia Finance Association (MFA) and MyKyoto. Shahida has been an external examiner and academic program assessor for several national level universities. She has published numerous journal articles, books and proceedings in the fields of Islamic banking, sukuk, shariah audit, case studies and human capital in Islamic finance.
