Update on Shipping Rates as Sales and Services Tax (SST) Come into Effect 4 September 2018

Due to the re-introduction of the Sales and Services Tax (SST) starting on September 1, 2018, Kawah Buku is expecting some changes, especially for the shipping rates, when the tax comes into effect.

This is understandable as courier services are subject to SST, as announced in the press release by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) Malaysia and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

By today, we notice our regular courier providers have already updated their new shipping rates for certain parcels and categories. We take this information as an acknowledgement that the increment in shipping rates is inevitable due to SST.

These are some changes in shipping rates:

For shipping in Peninsular Malaysia, parcels with less than 2 kg in weight undergo an increment, particularly the first 1 kg, which will cost RM7 and the next 1 kg, which will cost RM8. However, parcels with more than 2 kg in weight did not experience any change in shipping rates.

For shipping to Sabah and Sarawak, parcels will undergo a significant increment in shipping rates for each weight amount.

Our free shipping offer will also be adjusted according to current developments to accommodate the changes. Thus, free shipping is only available for purchases made equal to or above RM150. However, due to the significant shipping cost to East Malaysia, the FREE SHIPPING offer is unfortunately unavailable for any shipping address in Sabah, Sarawak, or Labuan.
