Bugis and Islam in the Malay World offers a multidisciplinary exploration of the history, culture, and contributions of the Bugis people in the Malay world, particularly in Malaysia and Indonesia. The second section, which tacking the social and cultural, highlights the focus to values, norms, and lived experiences within Bugis society. It discusses the integration of Islamic values in Bugis traditions and migration practices, critically analyzes gender dynamics through the Pappaseng texts, and explores symbolic cultural expressions such as the concept of were in agricultural traditions. Additionally, it considers the role of food heritage, specifically rice utilization in Bugis cuisine, as part of identity and cultural continuity.
