Charles Higham
Charles Higham is an Emeritus Professor of Archaeology at the University of Otago. His research interests include the prehistory of mainland Southeast Asia, the implications of archaeogenetics, and historic linguistics. He has published numerous books and articles on these topics, including The Bronze Age of Southeast Asia (Cambridge University Press, 1996) and The Origins of the Civilization of Angkor (Bloomsbury, 2013). He is currently working on two research projects: one on the origins of social inequality during the later Iron Age at Non Ban Jak, Northeast Thailand, and another on the dating of human bones, shells, and plant remains from key prehistoric sites in Southeast Asia. He has received numerous awards for his research, including the Marsden Fund.
