Swami Agnivesh

Swami Agnivesh serves as chair of the United Nations Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery and the Bandhua Mukti Morcha (Bonded Labor Liberation Front). The struggle against bonded labor and child labor has been at the heart of his activities to advance social and economic justice. He has led the movement toward liberation of bonded labor and child labor throughout India, been active in a range of women’s issues, and conducted extensive tours throughout the country to promote self-confidence and awareness among the most vulnerable sections of Indian society. He is the author of numerous articles and the former chief editor of the biweekly Rajdharma (1968-1978). His most recent book is entitled Religion, Spirituality, Social Action: A New Agenda for Humanity.
