Yana Rizal is a literary translator and editor who has worked with some of the most eminent authors in the region. She was the co-editor of Naratif | Kisah, the first bilingual literary journal in Southeast Asia. Her translations were included in the Anthology of Traditional Malay Literature, edited by Muhammad Haji Salleh, Malaysia’s literary laureate. She has also coordinated several regional literary festivals over the years.

A rover by nature, Yana loves to experiment and explore — be it through writing, in the kitchen, and other aspects of the human experience. She now runs an inn on a small island. Despite defying all their expectations with her life choices, Yana loves her parents very much — Rizal, a dedicated banker and father, and Rody, a loving matron of the family who stood by his side every day till his last — both of whom deserve recognition.
