Philip Koh Tong Ngee
Philip Koh Tong Ngee was educated at Bukit Bintang Secondary School and was part of the pioneering law students at the University of Malaya (1973-73). Upon graduation with an LLB (Hons), he was a pupil at Skrine and was called to the Malaysian Bar. He obtained an LLM from the University of London and taught Contract and Company Law between 1980 and 1985. He then proceeded to practice Law for the next 10 years as an advocate & solicitor. During a mid-career break as a Fulbright Scholar, he was attached to Oliver Hart at the Economics Department, University of Harvard. He served as the Executive Director of a public-listed corporation and was involved in law reform and banking and the capital & securities market. He is now a Senior Parmer of Messrs Mah-Kamariyah & Philip Koh. Among his many interests are reading philosophy, theology (MLA Theology from the Australian Catholic University) and literature, which he teaches as an elective of Law and Literature at UM. He served on the Bank Negara Financial Stability Executive Committee and the Corporate Commission Malaysia and Securities Commission Law Reform Committee. As an Adjunct Professor at the UM Law and School of Business, he helps organise and present papers in many seminars relating to both corporate and constitutional governance together with law and literature. He writes regularly in the media.
