Fathers and Their Wisdom: By Sons and Daughters is a compilation of essays on fathers written by their sons and daughters. The book explores the profound impact of paternal wisdom through a collection of 26 heartfelt essays, where sons and daughters share personal stories about their fathers, their attributes and how they have inspired their children, families, friends and associates on their life journeys. The essays explore fathers from diverse backgrounds, including a compassionate doctor, a dedicated diplomat, hardworking civil servants, successful corporate figures, untiring educationists, visionary politicians and a top-ranking no-nonsense enforcement officer, among others. Across the chapters, the fathers are shown to have shared quite similar life goals: loving and protecting their family, providing well for them, offering the best education and necessary skills, and instilling good manners, ethics and values for their children to become well-rounded, decent adults. Interestingly, each writer has a distinct focus on the father’s story while highlighting interesting episodes in his life and times. It is the book’s aim to portray fathers who were an inspiration to their children as positive, down-to-earth men with their share of personal flaws but imbued with enduring wisdom.
